Do you need a new lens?

As I was blog surfing today (to many of my favorite blog spots) I ran across the MCP Actions Blog where I finally purchased some actions I have been eyeing (since I cannot figure out how to get eyes to pop and teeth whiter on my own I am going to let these guide my way!)... and found that they are giving away one of these:

Lens

Lens2

I have so been wanting one of these since I read about them recently.. of course, given my double house payment situation, that is not happening.. so.. here I am posting about it in hopes of winning one (or maybe you will win it and share it with me? LOL!)...

If you want a chance to win too post about the contest and include a link to the MCP Blog - then go back and enter a comment with a link to your blog and viola!

Good Luck!

On home news, nothing going on here but the rent.. Brody brought a bug home last week that is now sweeping through the house. Holly is currently hanging out in my bed, sick.. poor baby! I wonder who will be next?

Happy Belated Birthday America!

Happy Belated Birthday America!

Unfortunately, we spent the day indoors most of the day with a sick little girl with a belly ache. We had originally planned to go to some fireworks or drive to my Mom's house, but she hasn't been feeling well either and I was hesitant to take 4 kids out in the crowd mentality alone.. so we stayed here. We held our own little birthday party, complete with decorations and cake and ice cream.

We also  took some patriotic photos... Here they are

We got lucky to see some fireworks in our neighborhood and we lit a few sparklers, although Hannah was the only one brave enough to hold or play with them (pictures of that later)...

I Love Cosmo Cricket.....

I love you Cosmo Cricket...

How do I love thee?

Let me count the ways...

I love thee "Get Happy" Collection; so bright and yet grungy, perfect for a page about a sweet boy and his favorite Christmas present this year.....

Extremerider

I love thee "Hello Sunshine" collection; so bright, clean and cheerful!, perfect for a layout about my oldest daughter, Hannah, and her "bee excellent" achievement award at school.

Beeexcellent

I love thee Jack's World collection, so fun and quirky, perfect to capture another sweet shot of my little baby boy (who isn't such a baby anymore these days!)

Youaremysunshine2

So, enough of my corny poem and on to the point of my post today (which I must apologize for being so absent ! - we have been finding our groove without Aaron and loving our summertime vacation from school and work!)

I was excited to read about the Cosmo Cricket Design Team call on their blog. I am a long time fan of Cosmo Cricket! I have bought and hoarded every single one of their collections - so I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to dig deep into my stash and use some of these fabulous pattern papers and embellishments; not to mention - *I* think I meet most of their criteria:

1. People who love Cosmo Cricket products and feel inspired by them.
2. People who have a great sense of design.
3. People who are creative.
4. People who maintain an active blog and are connected to online communities.
5. People who are not afraid to submit for publication.
6. People who are low maintenance, dedicated, easy to get along with, generally happy and fun to be around.

Well, I do hope Cosmo Cricket loves me as much as I love them (but even if they don't, I will still continue to love and honor them anyway! :) )

Thanks for stopping by!

xoxo

Day 13 - We are still Alive!

LOL!

So far, anyway... Last weekend was rough, but this weekend was a better. A few less meltdowns, a few less fights, a little more cooperation from the crew...

Hannah has a new trick, which is really quite cruel, as all big sisters can be... but anyway, Brody is missing Daddy the most out of the bunch.. on ocassion he will cry out, "Mommy, my Daddy's gone!" - add a pouty face to the routine and it is really quite heartbreaking... well, Hannah, being the cruel big sister (who has choosen to have quite the attitude) chimes in with "Yes, your Daddy's gone, get over it".. with an evil laugh and grin... (if you are like me you are just sitting there shaking your head..) Hannah and I have had several talks about why this is cruel, none of which are sinking in... if this is what I get at 8, I will not make it through the teenage years!

Other than that, life is rolling merrily along. There are less than 20 school days on the DODEA calendar, the girls continue to torture each other, the laundry continues to pile up, the house continues to need to be cleaned and I continue to scrap.. (nice segway, huh?)

So, since I mentioned scrapping.. I will share a couple things.

My May 15th reveal at Croppin Paradise. I got to play with the new Chatterbox Fabulous line. The photos are circa 2003 during another Daddy deployment. Watch the site and message board at CP for some fun new promotions and contests/challenges coming soon!

The new kit for June is up at Simply ObsessedIt features Jenni Bowlin and some beautiful embellishments. Go get yours before they are all gone!

A Mother's Day Story.....

Once upon a time there was a girl.... She had just finished Grad School and was starting a job as a Speech Pathologist...She was not thinking about becoming a Mom....

 Mommy

Then, she met a boy at the bookstore

Daddy

And they fell in love and got married......

MommyandDaddy

Shortly (before they got married) she became a Mom for the first time; to the most beautifuly, strong-willed, creative blonde-haired princess, she felt so lucky..

Hannah

Then 15months later, she became a Mom again; this time to a little nymph with a twinkle in her eye, a devilish grin and beautiful flaxen hair..... She felt even luckier....

Hailey

And then, because 2 was not enough (or because someone knew better than she did) She became a Mom again.. to a Strawberry-haired princess with fair skin and green eyes.

Holly

When she thought her family was complete, she felt fortunate to be a Mom to 3 wonderful girls! ... When she found out she was going to become a Mom again.. she felt overwhelmed... but when she saw the adorable blonde-haired, blue eyed angel in her arms, she was sure she the luckiest Mom in the world!

Brody

Today, the girl would like to thank the boy she met in the bookstore for making her a Mom and for giving her 4 of the most beautiful children in the world! - and since he is not here to be told in person she hopes he will read this and smile!

xoxo

(oh and if you want some of these adorable dolls of your own... you can find them HERE!!!

Day 6 - 359 to Go!

For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about... 6 is the number of days since Aaron left for Afghanistan and 359 is the number of days until his safe return. The kids and I are currently working on find a new normal and getting in a routine!

For those of you wondering, I have hear from the man and he is still enroute to Afghanistan (they were somewhere in Russia when I spoke to him last)

I'm Still Standing!

 Phew!

Time sure does fly when you are busy! We are still NOT completely unpacked (yes, my garage is still hiding about 20+ boxes) there are still shelves to be hung and we still have 1 room that is virtually empty because we don't have furniture to fill it! But, alas, life must and will go on!

Working full time definately has its challenges! If I thought my life was like Groundhog Day before, I am sure it is now! We wake up, get ready, out the door and to the daycare drop off, through the gates and into the building... only to find there are about a million things that need to be done! Unfortunately, when the students moved from their prior schools things went awry and paperwork didn't get completed, services were not rendered, etc etc which now needs to be fixed! I spend most days running around between therapy sessions and doing a LOT of apologizing to staff and parents, so not fun!

Since I last posted a lot of fun (and some not so fun) family things have occurred!

My "Biggle", Hailey turned 7! Yes, 7! She was lucky in that both Grandmas and her half-brother Skylar got to attend her birthday party, which was complete with a beautiful Tinkerbell cake and a pinata!

Hailey73

She got lots of great gifts and we all had a great time spending the evening together as a family. Her birthday also happened to be the night of their school carnival so we had lots of extra attendees!

The night of the carnival was also the night of doom! Hannah came home from the carnival complaining that her head was itchy... I didn't think anything of it b/c of the water change (NC verses AL) and thought that maybe she had dandruff... so I went about my business. The next day she was still complaining... so I sent her to the shower to wash her hair.. but upon inspection.. I noticed................. bugs.. yes, bugs crawling in her scalp (and as I type this I find that my head is beginning to itch just thinking about it!)... I wanted to vomit... "Aaron", I called "there are BUGS in Hannah's hair, bugs.. please come look".

Having never had experienced lice in all my years in schools as a student or as a Speech Pathologist, I was mortified! As a parent, I was even more mortified! You see, to me, cleanliness is next to godliness! My children can go to school and be the "dumb" kid in class, I can deal with that, but they absolutely CANNOT go to school and be the dirty kid.. we bathe, religiously, every night! So, how, how, how could this happen? - Well, it did and our Saturday was filled with over $100.00 in treatments (treatments all the way around for every member of the immediate and extending visiting family, I am sure they were all glad they came) linen washing, spraying and cleaning... what fun it was! We of course had to tell the teacher on Monday who then found 2 students with it in the classroom. They were sent home.. and for now, no more bugs! Phew!

Let's see... after the trauma we set to getting ready for EASTER and Holly's birthday! Here is a cute Easter bunny I made from some scrappy scraps! Isn't he fun?

Bunnyegg

Here comes Holly Cottontail.. Hoppin down the bunny trail... Holly found this Bunny makeup kit on clearance at Party City and I agreed to get it b/c I figured it would make for good photos.. and it did! Check out my cute bunny!

Hollybunny2

We did our traditional Easter Egg dying... The girls were really excited, unfortunately, Brody, not so much.. as a matter of fact, he didn't dig Easter much at all this year, except the Bubble Lawnmower the Easter Bunny brought him!

Haileyeggdye

(I am not sure what this new picture face Hailey is giving me lately, but this is the look I get since she lost her first tooth naturally the other week! Silly girl!)

oh and not to forget Brody.. forget the egg dying... as a matter of fact he was MAD when I dumped his egg in the dye... he preferred to play with the wind up bunny and was so darn funny as he told the bunny "Jump Bunny, jump bunny" each and every time he flipped!

Since Holly's birthday was so close to Easter this year we decided to celebrate on Saturday (the 11th). Grandma and Papa Jacques came up bearing a monster Strawberry Shortcake cake, a pinata and some great presents!

She had a great day filled with lots of love and a new scooter to boot!

Wilma!!! We're Home!!!!!

(post written on 3/5  - not sure why it didn't publish!)

Yep, it's been too long again!

Life is hectic and funny and full of surprises! I think the last time I left you all we had found out that we were moving to NC instead of TN and I had gotten a job with the DODEA here in NC!

The movers showed up on the 17th and started to make short work of our happy home! We also met with our realtor and put our house on the market (send us some prayers for a quick sale!). The packers packed on the 17th and 18th, they packed the truck on the 19th and we pushed off on the 20th.

 Boxes17

IMG_9344

We didn't plan our trip very well and we ended up in Atlanta at 5:00pm... quite shocking for someone who was used to driving on 4 lanes up and back to the big town of Dothan! Despite the traffic, we went over the river and through the woods to Grandma's house... We hung out in Winston for a couple days and then drove up to Cameron to move in!

Here is our new home:

The entry way/formal living area

The scraproom (doesn't look this clean now! LOL!)

The master bedroom

The other bedrooms and the bonus room are upstairs (I haven't taken pictures)... The movers showed up with our stuff on Tuesday (which was my first day at work... more on that later). The house now looks like this:

Ok, more boxes to unpack... the garage is full of them! I have all kinds of scrappy stuff to share, so I will be back soon!

100 Days Come and Gone!

Yep, that is right..

100 Days (of what you ask?)

of SCHOOL!

Yay! - We are over half way through the year! (quite honestly I am impressed that the people at the girls' school can even count to 100.. but alas they can!) -

We had a lot of fun getting ready for the big event! I made Hailey a 100 Days tee-shirt and "we" (translation, I was up until 12am finishing it) made this adorable butterfly mobile... with.. are you ready... 100 butterflies! yep! - I think it turned out pretty cute!

Butterflies1

a full shot...........

Butterflies4

and a picture of Hailey holding it with her 100 Days shirt on...

January 26

So, in other news... our time here in the armpit is winding down.. The packers are coming on February 17 and 18 and they are packing the truck on the 19th! We were worried about not having a roof over our heads once we got there but that all worked out too! We found a swanky house about 9 miles from the school where I will be working.. karma... that's all I am saying!

More on the move and all that jazz later!
