I am truly trying to be better about updating this blog, but I get so busy and forget!
Since my last visit we celebrated Easter, Hailey turned 6 and we had another soccer game (which unfortunately they lost because Hailey refused to play -- more on that in a minute!)
Easter was egg-citing! (LOL, couldn't resist that!). The kids woke up at the crack of dawn to find eggs scattered all over the backyard and baskets FULL of good loot! Here is Hailey's basket and some pictures of the hunt and "booty"..........................................
Next we had Hailey's birtday!~ She is 6! 6! Can you believe it? Where does the time go? I so wish I could slow it down or freeze time just for a while! They are all growing so fast and I am worried I will miss something or forget something! (henceforth my need to document everything on film! The girls may not always like the camera in their faces now, but one day they will thank me! - I know how glad I am that my Dad did it, even when it was less than enjoyable!) So, here is my Birthday girl!
The horse and stable was one of her favorite gifts (Thanks Grandma!). She talked about it and asked for it for weeks. She was also excited to receive a gift card from her favorite store, Target, from Grandma Patti! She also got a mess of new Pet Shop (gotta grow the collection! nevermind it won't fit in the largest tub!) After the present opening we all enjoyed Tinkerbell cake and ice cream! I would say the birthday was a success!
The soccer season is well under way and while Hailey is an excellent player, she is not the most sportsman-like player on the team. Most of the players on her team are 4 or 5. They don't keep official score and there is no real strategy, just run after the ball in a pack and kick it! There are lots of "downed" players and many a hurt feeling, but most of the kids bounce back and continue the game, but not Hailey. Maybe it is the competitive "Harwick" gene that runs in her blood (or maybe it is Daddy's teaching) or the fact that Daddy has taught Hailey the rules of the game and has worked with her on passing and moving the ball down the field, but Hailey knows the score. Hailey wants the ball, Hailey wants to play the "game"..... and well, unfortunately, the other players don't. This frustrates Hailey, who in turn melts down. Friday was no exception. The "royal blue" team boasts some pretty good players (our team is more like the Bad News Bears).... they ran fast, they scored... they dominated the field. At one point Hailey was tripped by the mob, at which point she began to cry, she sucked it up and carried on.... only to have the ball stolen from her and then scored on, ugh! That was it. Tantrum, meltdown, refusal to play which = frustration for Mommy (as Daddy is out on the field "coaching"). Hailey refused to play the entire remainder of the game... Score 7-0. Royal Blue won. Will load some pictures of the masacre later. LOL!
