Phew!
Time sure does fly when you are busy! We are still NOT completely unpacked (yes, my garage is still hiding about 20+ boxes) there are still shelves to be hung and we still have 1 room that is virtually empty because we don't have furniture to fill it! But, alas, life must and will go on!
Working full time definately has its challenges! If I thought my life was like Groundhog Day before, I am sure it is now! We wake up, get ready, out the door and to the daycare drop off, through the gates and into the building... only to find there are about a million things that need to be done! Unfortunately, when the students moved from their prior schools things went awry and paperwork didn't get completed, services were not rendered, etc etc which now needs to be fixed! I spend most days running around between therapy sessions and doing a LOT of apologizing to staff and parents, so not fun!
Since I last posted a lot of fun (and some not so fun) family things have occurred!
My "Biggle", Hailey turned 7! Yes, 7! She was lucky in that both Grandmas and her half-brother Skylar got to attend her birthday party, which was complete with a beautiful Tinkerbell cake and a pinata!
She got lots of great gifts and we all had a great time spending the evening together as a family. Her birthday also happened to be the night of their school carnival so we had lots of extra attendees!
The night of the carnival was also the night of doom! Hannah came home from the carnival complaining that her head was itchy... I didn't think anything of it b/c of the water change (NC verses AL) and thought that maybe she had dandruff... so I went about my business. The next day she was still complaining... so I sent her to the shower to wash her hair.. but upon inspection.. I noticed................. bugs.. yes, bugs crawling in her scalp (and as I type this I find that my head is beginning to itch just thinking about it!)... I wanted to vomit... "Aaron", I called "there are BUGS in Hannah's hair, bugs.. please come look".
Having never had experienced lice in all my years in schools as a student or as a Speech Pathologist, I was mortified! As a parent, I was even more mortified! You see, to me, cleanliness is next to godliness! My children can go to school and be the "dumb" kid in class, I can deal with that, but they absolutely CANNOT go to school and be the dirty kid.. we bathe, religiously, every night! So, how, how, how could this happen? - Well, it did and our Saturday was filled with over $100.00 in treatments (treatments all the way around for every member of the immediate and extending visiting family, I am sure they were all glad they came) linen washing, spraying and cleaning... what fun it was! We of course had to tell the teacher on Monday who then found 2 students with it in the classroom. They were sent home.. and for now, no more bugs! Phew!
Let's see... after the trauma we set to getting ready for EASTER and Holly's birthday! Here is a cute Easter bunny I made from some scrappy scraps! Isn't he fun?
Here comes Holly Cottontail.. Hoppin down the bunny trail... Holly found this Bunny makeup kit on clearance at Party City and I agreed to get it b/c I figured it would make for good photos.. and it did! Check out my cute bunny!
We did our traditional Easter Egg dying... The girls were really excited, unfortunately, Brody, not so much.. as a matter of fact, he didn't dig Easter much at all this year, except the Bubble Lawnmower the Easter Bunny brought him!
(I am not sure what this new picture face Hailey is giving me lately, but this is the look I get since she lost her first tooth naturally the other week! Silly girl!)
oh and not to forget Brody.. forget the egg dying... as a matter of fact he was MAD when I dumped his egg in the dye... he preferred to play with the wind up bunny and was so darn funny as he told the bunny "Jump Bunny, jump bunny" each and every time he flipped!
Since Holly's birthday was so close to Easter this year we decided to celebrate on Saturday (the 11th). Grandma and Papa Jacques came up bearing a monster Strawberry Shortcake cake, a pinata and some great presents!
She had a great day filled with lots of love and a new scooter to boot!
I will post again later to share our Easter festivities (this post is getting LONG!) but I wanted a chance to share some more scrappy fun!
